Grid-reference trails for youth groups

Hidden checkpoints.
Real map reading.

SwanWanderer turns a walk into a treasure trail. Leaders set a chain of six-figure grid references; teams find each one with a paper map and unlock the next on their phone.

Enter the code your leader gave you.

How it works

  1. 1

    Leader plans the trail

Drop checkpoints on the OS 1:25 000 map, add clues and questions, and hand out a six-letter code.

  2. 2

    Teams navigate on paper

Only the first grid reference is shown. Teams read the map, find where the next checkpoint is, work out how to navigate to it, and walk.

  3. 3

    Check in on arrival

At the spot they press “I’m here”. If they are close enough the next reference unlocks, even with no signal.
