What the play screen does with location
Your phone’s location is read only when you press “I’m here”. It is used on the phone itself to check whether your team is at the checkpoint. The coordinates are never sent anywhere and are not stored.
What is recorded
- The team name you typed when joining (please do not use individual names).
- Which checkpoint your team reached, and when.
- How many attempts a question took.
That record lets your leader see how the teams are getting on. It is deleted automatically 30 days after the activity, or sooner if the leader deletes the session.
Who is responsible
The leader or organisation running the activity decides to use SwanWanderer and is the data controller for the team records. SwanWanderer stores the records on their behalf and does not use them for anything else. Leaders sign in with an account; team members do not need one.
Cookies and storage
The play screen keeps the route and your progress in your browser’s local storage so it works with no signal. Leaders’ sign-in uses a session cookie. There is no advertising or analytics tracking.
